“What can you do to make my trip more special?” is one of the most frequent requests put to Disneyland Paris by package bookers. Now they’ve responded: two new “signature” packages including a Disney Character experience and an exclusive Marvel encounter.
Launched today and available to book right now, the new
Signature Collection brings two big new options when
booking a hotel and park tickets package at any of the resort’s seven Disney Hotels.
Aiming to tap into this under-served market of visitors wanting to spend a little more to make their package more “unique” for a special occasion, a
Signature Marvel Package and
Signature Celebration Package attempt to add this premium touch and experiment with added-value extras like character encounters and shopping gift cards.
But exactly what bonuses do you get and how much does it cost? Let’s investigate…
Signature Marvel Package
Never mind the Marvel Summer of Super Heroes and the just-announced major Marvel expansion at Walt Disney Studios Park, the super hero universe can now be added to your Disneyland Paris hotel stay.
The big feature here is an exclusive American-style buffet with Captain America, Thor and Black Widow, hosted at Manhattan Restaurant in Disney’s Hotel New York (the hotel which will, funnily enough, be completely reimagined into an “Art of Marvel” theme during a planned closure from Autumn 2018).
The
Signature Marvel Package includes:
- A stay at one of the seven Disney Hotels
- Disney Park tickets
Plus these extras:
- An American-style buffet dinner with Captain America, Thor and Black Widow
- An exclusive encounter with Spider-Man
- A €60 gift card to spend in Disney Park boutiques
- A Disney PhotoPass
The package can only be booked for stays during Marvel Summer of Super Heroes: 10th June to 30th September 2018.
Signature Celebration Package
Aimed more at visitors with younger (or young at heart) character fans wanting to celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday, the second package adds an exclusive teatime with Disney Characters at The Lucky Nugget Saloon, plus one prized add-on that’s perfect for those not wanting to wait in line with younger children: a one-day VIP FASTPASS.
The
Signature Celebration Package includes:
- A stay at one of the seven Disney Hotels
- Disney Park tickets
Plus these extras:
- A teatime with Disney Characters at The Lucky Nugget Saloon
- A one-day VIP FASTPASS
- A gift bag full of Disney goodies
- A Disney PhotoPass
Like the first package, this can currently only be booked for stays between 10th June and 30th September 2018.
And the Prices?
Although you can now find pricing grids for both new packages (in
Pounds Sterling and
Euros), you’ll be hard pushed to find an actual, clear price tag attached to either. Luckily, we’ve done the maths.
It’s quickly clear each package supplement is priced per person, irrespective of the length of stay or hotel. In some ways that makes sense, since the add-ons are mostly one-off experiences that you can use just once during your stay. Yet it does mean a one night stay with the added packages can suddenly seem fantastically expensive, while on a longer stay it feels better value.
With the Disney PhotoPass benefit that’s especially true: you can use it your whole stay and it’d feel wasted on a one night stay. But to really
enjoy these packages, and not feel rushed through the character experiences or spending your gift card, it’ll definitely be advisable to only add them to a two, three night or longer package.
For the
Signature Marvel Package, you’re looking at an extra
£154 (€175) per adult, based on 2 adults sharing a room; so an extra
£308 (€350) on your total package price. Then, for each child aged 3 to 11, it’s an extra £24 (€27).
As an example, this takes a three night stay at Disney’s Hotel New York between 11th and 14th June 2018 from £922 to £1230.50.
Of course, you could also deduct the €60 shopping gift card from those prices, but only if you were definitely going to spend that much anyway.
For the
Signature Celebration Packages, the prices are slightly higher at
£171 (€194.50) per adult, based on 2 adults sharing, giving a total supplement of
£342 (€389) on any stay. For each child aged 3 to 11, add an extra £28 (€32).
That means a group of two adults and two children would pay an extra £398 (€453) for the privileges.
Some Helpful Extra Notes
- Marvel Package: the Spider-Man encounter takes place inside Disney Junior Live on Stage on the second day of your stay; the buffet dinner is only available on your first night and you can, remarkably, book a time slot online during the booking process; the gift card can only be used at World of Disney (Disney Village, The Emporium (Disneyland Park) and Legends of Hollywood (Walt Disney Studios Park) and is only valid for 30 days.
- Celebration Package: the gift bag includes a signature pen, autograph book, Minnie ears, lanyard and Mickey plush; the teatime with characters includes Mickey, Minnie and Goofy and must be taken on the second day of your stay between 3.30pm and 5.30pm.
- A discount for Magic Plus and Infinity Annual Pass holders will be available from 13th March 2018, call +33 (0)1 60 30 60 69 for details (international rates, costs may vary).
- For additional adults or other variations the supplement prices may vary.
- Both packages are limited in availability to the number of places available at the character dining experiences on each day.
