The opening year of the
Iron Man and Avengers retheme of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith at Disneyland Paris has been confirmed as
2020, with new poster artworks also teasing the Marvel lands due to arrive at Disneyland Resort and Hong Hong Disneyland around the same time.
“Expand your universe” and “recruitment begins” are the taglines in this new teaser campaign for the three international lands, which will all stand fairly uniquely with their own exclusive attractions and experiences.
In the blurb again confirming the
Marvel land coming to
Walt Disney Studios Park, which will take over the existing
Backlot and part of
Production Courtyard, we learn the opening date of its first true attraction will be 2020.
The as-yet-untitled reworking of
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith will retain the core ride system but completely change the experience both inside and out — the
artwork for the park’s $2 billion expansion released back in February showed a dramatic new curved façade to the boxy existing “Studio 8 and 9” building.
Though no closing date has been announced, rumours suggest you’ve got until roughly the
end of 2018 to ride Aerosmith’s SoundTracker into “Love In a Roller Coaster” one last time, before the attraction closes for huge a year-long refit.
As part of the transformative multi-year expansion announced for Disneyland Paris, the new Marvel-themed area at Walt Disney Studios Park will include a reimagined attraction where riders will team up with Iron Man and their favorite Avengers on a hyper-kinetic adventure in 2020.

No further attractions within the Disneyland Paris version of the land have been confirmed, and the artwork gives away few clues. Besides Iron Man, already confirmed, could it be at all relevant that Hulk features so prominently?
Though this first attraction will open in 2020, the announced expansion of the park is slated to continue through to 2024 or 2025, so further Marvel attractions (either brand new or reworked), as well as the redressing of the land itself, could open in subsequent years.
Of course, if you want a Marvel fix before then, the
Marvel Summer of Super Heroes and its standout show
Marvel: Super Heroes United should have you covered —
new details were also announced today.
The two other international lands, already hinted and announced individually to take over parts of Tomorrowland at
Hong Kong Disneyland and Hollywood Land at
Disney California Adventure also see few new details.
Hong Kong is already the most fully fleshed-out, with
Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters set to be replaced by an Ant Man theme and a huge new Avengers attraction pictured as the focal point of the land. The park already features the
Iron Man Experience simulator ride, featured on the poster.
In California, we only know that the existing
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! (which replaced
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror — are you seeing a similarity between the Marvel lands here?) will be joined by new attractions featuring Spider-Man and the Avengers, confirmed by the poster.
At Disneyland Resort, the new Super Hero-themed land will begin recruiting guests in 2020, with even more new experiences to follow. The Guardians of the Galaxy will be joined by Spider-Man and the Avengers in what will become a completely immersive Super Hero universe, furthering the evolution of Disney California Adventure park. This new land will be anchored by the popular Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, in the adjacent space that is currently occupied by “a bug’s land.” “It’s Tough to Be a Bug” closed March 19 to make way for this new heroic experience; the rest of the land will close in late summer.
Multi-year expansion plans are also underway at Hong Kong Disneyland, including a new themed area that will include an exciting attraction where guests team up with Ant-Man and The Wasp. This new attraction will join the Iron Man Experience, which opened in 2017 and is already the most popular attraction at the resort.
